Christopher Stroh
Cathedral Organist
Friday, February 21 at 7:30pm
at St. James Cathedral (804 9th Ave, Seattle)
Doors & box office open at 7:00pm.
Assistant Director of Music and Organist at St. James, Christopher Stroh offers a program of music from baroque to modern played on the celebrated Cathedral pipe organs. The Hutchings-Votey organ has graced the west gallery of the Cathedral since 1907 when it was built. In 2000, the Manuel Rosales Organ Builders of Los Angeles installed a new organ in the east apse, with a four-manual master console providing a single organist with complete control over the tonal resources of both the Rosales organ and the Hutchings-Votey organ, resulting in what could be considered the largest pipe organ in Seattle. Come and hear the power and beauty of all those pipes in surround-sound!
Chris will play works by Herbert Brewer, Mary Elizabeth Downey, Georg Muffat, George Böhm, J. S. Bach, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Florence Price, César Franck, Marcel Dupré, Jehan Alain, and Charles-Marie Widor.
