First Hill Neighborhood Walking Tour
July 17th from 10am-12:30pm
Join the First Hill Improvement Association on Wednesday, July 17th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for a free walking tour of First Hill. Take an architectural trip down memory lane, led by Lawrence Kreisman, who served as Program Director for Historic Seattle for 20 years and was the editor and lead author of Tradition and Change on Seattle’s First Hill: Propriety, Profanity, Pills, and Preservation.
This walking tour will have you re-live some of First Hill’s colorful past. Experience first-hand, the cozy wood-paneled comforts of its premier hotel, the churches and social clubs, and the lifestyle that was maintained by its wealthy families behind the walls of its architecturally significant residences—the homes of C.D. Stimson and H.H. Dearborn. You will see the development of apartment living in this, one of the densest of Seattle's neighborhoods. You will also witness excellent examples of adaptive reuse of older buildings carried out by Historic Seattle Preservation and Development Authority. Join us to come away with an understanding of what First Hill was like originally, how and why it changed, and what potential the future holds.
Space is limited, so don’t delay in signing up for the walking tour here.
