FHIA Applying for Funding to Build Terry Ave Woonerf
To build the Washington State Convention Center Addition project, the Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) is requesting that the city vacate three alleys and underground portions of Olive Way and Terry Avenue. The project will pay for these rights of way and also provide a package of public benefits.
The public open house was on December 7th, and the WSCC Addition team is now working to prioritize and advance the community-identified public benefit projects.
FHIA submitted a proposal to transform Terry Avenue from Marion Street to Cherry Street into a shared pedestrian and vehicular woonerf, per the PRAP. You can review our proposal online, which includes information about the project, First Hill’s growing need for public space, this project’s relevance to the WSCC Addition, and precedent projects.
The next steps for this project are to: respond to the WSCC Addition team’s proposal at the Seattle Design Commission, and to the City Council.
