Mayor Ed Murray to Cut the Ribbon on First Hill’s Pavement-to-Park Projects Saturday 8/8 at 11am

Join Mayor Ed Murray, SDOT, FHIA, and our partners in celebrating the grand opening of the first two Pavement-to-Parks projects in Seattle, which are right here in First Hill!

Saturday August 8th 11am-12pm
Intersection of University St, E Union St, and Boylston Ave

The sites are located in First Hill at 9th and University and at the intersection of University St, E Union St, and Boylston Ave. Developed from recommendations in the First Hill Public Realm Action Plan, these spaces provide creative solutions to addressing the critical need for open space in First Hill

These two projects convert underutilized street space to community-driven public spaces, while improving safety, implement the short term actions identified in the First Hill Public Realm Action Plan, and help to make our streets more vibrant, walkable, bikeable, and livable.

By improving street safety and creating new space for community-oriented uses that encourage positive community interactions these projects can allow streets to function as comfortable places for people, rather than just moving traffic through neighborhoods.
